Will Forte’s (aka Abe Lincoln) new movie “MacGruber” did not open up to a decent opening weekend which was different than I expected. Yes, it was going up against Shrek 4, but the talk about MacGruber was growing and it had the best reviews for a comedy ever for a couple weeks leading up to release over on RottenTomatoes.com. Yes, now that it has been released, the reviews have fallen from the previous 100% to down to 50%, but that won’ t stop me from seeing this movie during it’s second week in theaters.
In other news, Sit Down Shut Up was in fact picked up by Comedy Central, as previously mentioned, to help Viacom push back against other late night television blocks for adult viewers. It is currently running Tuesday nights.
When they won’t magically just ask me to run their network block to fight [adult swim], another way for me to help Viacom was me buying the Daria complete series on DVD. There is an insert inside the packaging that mentions, along with many cartoons from that time, that the licensing for music for DVD distribution was not thought ahead for, when signing the artists to contribute. The main theme is there, and that’s all I remember, so watching these again, and many for the first time, doesn’t bother me with the music subbing. When the WB had to do the same for Mission Hill, there were many fan complaints about the quality of the added music and how the DVD’s were built with them, which was terribly. I haven’t noticed an issue with the Daria set yet.
And for some fun, look at this redesigned Spork. I want many.

I know it was a LONG time coming, but prizes from the Snowflake Day contest earlier this year should be hitting the mail this coming week. I sincerely apologize for the delay.
Setting up my new house has called for much more of my free time than I had anticipated. I’m getting back to work on my computer as I can. No real news about the cartoons this time, but I am trying to allot myself time each week for work on the shows.
Edit*
I was browsing this site and noticed that my “Bonus Features” on the Clone High website was empty, so I have now rectified that. I don’t believe there is anything there you all haven’t seen already, but you can all check it out. I added the link to the Phil Lord and Chris Miller Retrospective video from 2007′s ITVFest, as well as images and videos, mostly from the Clone High USA official website, to here, for posterity.

This mini-press kit arrived for me this past week. I also was able to acquire the Time Squad Press Kit with some cool info that I could throw into a DVD I may make myself since they insist on not putting that show on DVD. I’ll show off the press kit in a little while. I may give that show it’s own page later.

Bill Oakley and one of the shows’ writers of Sit Down Shut Up (“aka Class Dismissed”) did not agree to the “compromise contract” between the creators/writers of the show and Sony Pictures TV. Josh Weinstein and the rest of the writers have remained on the show. You can read up more about the temporary break-up here and here.
I am very interested in how this will affect the series. Mission Hill was the show it was because of their collaborative effort. But since it’s going to show on Fox, we all know how it will go. Maybe a couple episodes will be shown in random order and regardless, a fan-base will grow around it but then it will be canceled.

Zach Braff has only one more season of Scrubs in him, at least as a starring role. When reached for comment, Bill Lawrence, producer of Clone High, said “The end of the show will be about J.D. leaving the hospital.” As you may already have known the show was not picked back up by NBC, but thankfully CBS did pick up the show and will air mid-season 2008-09. Read more about it here.

If you are a fan of the cartoon show MTV Downtown, which I have never mentioned on this blog before, well then you’re in luck, because for $25 dollars, you can get an “official ‘promotional’ dvd of all episodes with some commentaries” from the creator, Chris Prynoski, on his new blog. I have ordered received mine and I haven’t even seen one episode yet other than a quick clip on YouTube. If you’re a fan, get it, if you’re like me and haven’t seen it, check out some clips, or wait for a review or two.

I apologize for the long wait, especially for those who wrote in for the contest. I still haven’t gotten in all the prizes. I’m waiting on a CafePress shirt, and Clone High from Amazon.ca ( it was backordered, but they say its on the way). I wanted to send out all the prizes on one day.
I have been pouring my time into setting up my N-E-W computer! Luckily ToonBoom is compatible with Vista.
Good news for fans of Mission Hill. Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein are now working on a new Fox Animated show, “Sit Down, Shut Up.” Entertainment Weekly has the news:
” (FROM VARIETY) – Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein, former executive producers on The Simpsons, have been named exec producers on Fox’s new animated comedy Sit Down, Shut Up. The show, initially set up by Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz (who also wrote the first script) and his producing partners, Eric and Kim Tannenbaum, is based on an Australian live-action sitcom. The animated U.S. version is about seven staff members at a dysfunctional high school in a small northeastern fishing town and how their egos and personal agendas trump students’ needs. Fox has not yet officially picked up the new show, though naming Oakley and Weisntein executive producers seems to indicate that will happen shortly. The duo’s other credits include the animated WB comedy Mission Hill and UPN’s live-action comedy The Mullets.”
EDIT* According to TVSquad, Will Forte will be lending his voice to the show. The circle of this website is now complete.
Something to tide you all over, some new screenies. Stay tuned.
