Spork spork! Who’s there? The Spork. Half spoon-half fork.

Will Forte’s (aka Abe Lincoln) new movie “MacGruber” did not open up to a decent opening weekend which was different than I expected. Yes, it was going up against Shrek 4, but the talk about MacGruber was growing and it had the best reviews for a comedy ever for a couple weeks leading up to release over on RottenTomatoes.com. Yes, now that it has been released, the reviews have fallen from the previous 100% to down to 50%, but that won’ t stop me from seeing this movie during it’s second week in theaters.

In other news, Sit Down Shut Up was in fact picked up by Comedy Central, as previously mentioned, to help Viacom push back against other late night television blocks for adult viewers. It is currently running Tuesday nights.

When they won’t magically just ask me to run their network block to fight [adult swim], another way for me to help Viacom was me buying the Daria complete series on DVD. There is an insert inside the packaging that mentions, along with many cartoons from that time, that the licensing for music for DVD distribution was not thought ahead for, when signing the artists to contribute. The main theme is there, and that’s all I remember, so watching these again, and many for the first time, doesn’t bother me with the music subbing. When the WB had to do the same for Mission Hill, there were many fan complaints about the quality of the added music and how the DVD’s were built with them, which was terribly. I haven’t noticed an issue with the Daria set yet.

And for some fun, look at this redesigned Spork. I want many.

Snowflake Day continues for me

Published by Scott under [adult swim]

Snowflake Day may have come and passed you, but I’m looking out my window at about 3-4 feet of snow, thanks to the Snow-pocalypse that has hit Washington DC.

While I work on some things, both website and cartoon, enjoy this “Top 50 [adult swim] Characters” list.

Sit-Down, Shut-Up Already Getting the FOX K-O-D

Published by admin under [adult swim]

That would be the “Kiss-of-Death” for SDSU, Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein’s current production. I’m not even entirely sure if even both of them are still involved, or if after the recent strike and contract negotiations Bill Oakley truly left the scene.

Apparently the shows ratings are not doing well enough in the 8:30 block, immediately following The Simpson’s, so they decided to move it to 7pm, where Futurama previously floundered for awhile before getting the axe. Come to think of it, I’m amazed that FOX let Futurama live on as long as it did, thankfully.

As for the Futurama movies, they were pretty decent. Production quality was fantastic, but a a little too spastic story-wise to make it feel like the first season for me again. I was hoping for a 4-movie story arc that would tie together some loose ends that the previous seasons opened and readied for great story telling, but it didn’t come. Instead we were introduced to the Nudars, an alien race I could have gone without meeting, and other story lines that had little to do with previous seasons besides the occasional hilarious reference to previous situations. Again, all-in-all, I was overjoyed that they were to be made, and satisfied with the end result. I just wish a bit more could have been thought out for what they wanted to accomplish if indeed these are to be the makings of the “last season”.

I am excited to get my hands on The Venture Brothers – Season 3 DVD that came out recently. I am quite over [adult swim], so I just await the DVD of shows I care for. Speaking of which, I do catch Superjail (Yeah!) and Drink Crow (Meh!) on [adult swim] onDemand, but their live-action shows make my eyes bleed. (Oh, I so want to be in charge of programming…)

And if you ever want to sit back and watch a cartoon HEAVILY inspired by Ren and Stimpy production (minus the SPUMCO art-style), just put on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack found on Cartoon Network. That’s my current recommendation. And if that’s not for you, well then, go watch Korgoth again and cry for what could have been.

Behind the Scenes News

I have noticeably taken a pause from the online portion of my work. Incidentally, I have also taken a pause from the real work of making the cartoons. Not because of outside problems or work, but because I’m learning to use a new program. Toon Boom Digital Pro (previously known as Solo). I am really enjoying the program demo that I have and have decided to go forth with transferring over the whole workload to Toon Boom Digital Pro. Flash just isn’t the better cartoon creator anymore and as soon as I can acquire the full version of TB Digital Pro, my production will zoom back on task.

Before making this update about the program switch, I had hoped to have a somewhat secret update for Clone High fans, but the information that I have asked for hasn’t come in quite yet. I do hope it won’t be too much longer, for I, myself, would really like the information. So, I won’t tease anymore just in case I never get the information, in which case, I will tell you all what I was trying to get.

Take care everyone, and only watch cartoons that matter. Let your favorite station, like Teletoon or [adult swim] know what you like watching and what you don’t like. It makes a difference.

[adult swim needs my direction]

Sarah Chalke, 30, became engaged while vacationing with her boyfriend in Hawaii. Stick THAT in your face-hole! She’s going to sign that legit-ass contract! Extreme Blue
Snowflake Day icons thanks to lemon tart! They’re fun! And there are “A Christmas Story” icons, too! Snowflake Day Spirit

Even though semester break is approaching, I don’t for-see any more workflow arriving, as I am taking two winter courses to better ensure I graduate this coming spring semester.

I am trying to work in a new item for the CafePress store for Clone High and I hope to have it out no later than mid-January. You’ll be able to look at it every day for a year with some practical space below the header pictures to, perhaps, right noteworthy dates down.

And just when I thought that rain of terror on [adult swim] of crappy live action shows was over, it seems the creators of Tom Goes to the Mayor have a seemingly all live-action show coming, Tim and Erics. And then there is that atrocious Saul of the Molemen or something like that. Seriously, what is going on over there at [adult swim]? And is anyone even watching Assy McGee? <sigh>

The first episode of Frisky Dingo is available on iTunes for free, for now, and is worth getting into. And on [adult swim fix], Welcome to Eltingville is up. Geekier than Undergrads by far.
